Pease ANGB Holiday Carnival

A big thank you to all the cadets who volunteered their time with the Air National Guardsmen on Pease to throw the military families a fantastic holiday-season carnival! It was a lot of fun, and for a great cause, because these families are making the sacrifices most of us don’t have to. The experience is even more important on such a day of remembrance as this, the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack.

To the Airmen of the 157th, to all US Military men and women, and to all the veterans out there- thank you, and Merry Christmas.

On a markedly less somber and less important note, an additional thank you for letting us “test” out the laser tag systems before the families arrived!

Recent Awards and Recognition

The Seacoast Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol held a promotion and awards night at their Pease Air National Guard Base meeting place in October. Two cadets C/CMSgt Patrick Royer and C/CMSgt Michelle Wegner received promotions to C/2Lt and their Gen. Billy Mitchell Awards from Col. William Moran, NH Wing CAP Commander. Cadet Royer is from Fremont, NH and attends high school. Cadet Wegner is from Strafford, NH and is a senior at Norwich University and a member of their ROTC program.

The Mitchell Award named in honor of B/G Billy Mitchell, famed aviator, who proved to the Army and Navy the importance of air power during World War II. He supported the idea to separate the air service from the Army and Navy. Cadets received this award are required to be challenged by completing five achievements in the cadet program including encampment activities. They also must pass a comprehensive Aerospace and Leadership closed book, timed exam with a grade of 80% or better. A physical fitness test is also required.
The other promotion of the evening went to Capt. Blain Cote, Seacoast Squadron commander who was promoted to the rank of Major by Col. Moran. Cote’s son C/A1C Eric Cote helped Col Moran place the new shoulder boards on his father’s uniform.
Other awards at the evening meeting were Red Service Ribbons to C/SSgt Nicole Bureau and C/MSgt Evan Hultstrom for two years of membership. C/SSgt Alex Rose and C/MSgt Madeline Clough received Level 3 Ground Team badges. Capt Diane Lambert recieved her technician level rating as safety officer. Lambert has also been appointed Deputy Commander for Seniors.

Boston-Portsmouth AirShow 2012

To quote our Wing Commander, Col. Bill Moran

,

Your performance (300 plus CAP volunteers) at the 2012 Boston Portsmouth Blue Angel Airshow was superb. It was an energetic, cheerful , disciplined, tireless, cooperative, hustling effort and this was during a two day heat wave. From parking lot fee collection and direction  (21 lots across the Pease Development Authority),  to all the onsite show ticket sales, 100% of the guest screening and ticket scanning, to ramp directors and bus movement coordinators, I and all the rest of the CAP leaders could not be more proud of your effort and performance.  We were also so pleased with the performance of our junior cadets, they were just amazing. You certainly were a model of our core values this weekend. Thank you for showing New England the best CAP has to offer.

Thank you to all of the cadets who volunteered over those scorching two days! It was long, it was hot, it was fun, and we can’t wait for the next one!
